How do I set-up and use voice-activated calling with Google Nest?
Telstra mobile customers can link their service on the Google Home app and make hands-free calls at home with any Google Nest speaker or display device (Mini, Home, Max and Hub).
You can make calls using your Google Nest devices even if your mobile is out of battery or out of reach, so the kids can call you when they get home from school. Or use it to call 000 hands-free in an emergency.
There’s no additional cost from Telstra to use this service. Calls will be charged as per voice inclusions in your Telstra mobile plan. The Wi-Fi calls from your home will use a small amount of data against your internet service provider. You may be charged for the data by your broadband provider in accordance with your broadband provider’s data plan.
To start using voice-activated calling, you’ll need:
- A compatible active Telstra mobile plan. If your mobile service is a Pre-Paid plan, it’ll need to have credit available
- A compatible smartphone
- A Google Nest speaker and/or display (Mini, Home, Max and Hub) connected to your Wi-Fi network
- A Google/Gmail account
Good to know: Data charges may apply. Call charges will be in accordance with your Telstra mobile plan.
