When pairing your Smart Power Plug, ensure you’re in the same room as your Telstra Smart Home Hub. Once paired, you can install your plug in your desired location, up to 20 metres away from your hub.
- Go to Settings, My devices, Add new devices, then Smart bulbs or smart plugs. Choose Smart plug and then tap Continue twice to move past the instructional screens. The hub will start searching for devices to add.
- Plug the smart plug into a power point within five metres of your hub and switch on the power point.
- When the app detects the sensor, it will display onscreen with a green tick. Do not proceed until a green tick appears.
- To complete the pairing process, tap Next.
Note: Pairing mode lasts for two minutes. To re-activate the smart plug for pairing, press the Pair button on the front of the smart plug.
Once your smart plug is paired with your hub, you can choose where to place it in your home.
Smart Power Plug features and functions
To reduce the risk of overheating, don’t install the plug near heat sources such as fires or heating vents. Don’t expose the device to direct sunlight.
Smart plugs can extend the range of your hub by strengthening the connection between the hub and devices installed further away. To extend your hub’s range, simply plug in your smart plug between your devices and your hub. The power point must be switched on, but the smart plug does not need to be.
The smart plug has overload protection. This will be triggered if the load exceeds 10A or 2400 watts. It also has overvoltage protection which will be triggered if the incoming voltage exceeds 256VAC.
