Update your browser to stay safe online

If you're seeing this message, you may need to update your browser.

Without the most up-to-date version of your browser, you may be more vulnerable to cybersecurity threats, such as viruses and ransomware.

You also may have problems viewing our latest site features, as Telstra's website does not support outdated browsers. Find out more about staying safe online.

  1. Plug in your camera:

Unscrew the cap on the back of the camera and remove the white rubber grommet.
Push the power cable through the cap.
Then push the power cable through the white rubber grommet. The grommet is designed to split in half when you do this.
Assemble your camera by attaching the stand to the rear of the camera using the screw and tighten in place.
Plug in the power pin with the white grommet around it into the rear of the camera and screw the cap back in. Then, plug the power adapter into a wall outlet and power on.

  2. In the Telstra Smart Home app, go to Settings, My devices, Add new devices and select Camera. Tap Next to display the cabling instructions. You can tap I need help for instructions specific to pairing outdoor cameras.

Tap Continue twice to move past plugging in your camera and waiting for it to power on.

  3. Press the WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) button on the back of your camera until you feel it click. The WPS light on the rear of the camera will start to blink. Tap Continue in the app.

Press the WPS button for less than one second. If you hold it down longer, the camera won’t pair.

  4. Press the WPS or Pair button on your Wi-Fi modem.

Note: this is not the Pair button on your hub.

Both lights on the back of the camera will remain solid green when your camera is connected to your Home Wi-Fi network. Tap Continue in the app.

Note: If both WPS buttons aren’t pressed within 180 seconds, the pairing process will time out. If this happens, start from the beginning.

  5. When your camera has successfully paired, a confirmation screen will display in the app with an image preview. Tap Next to go back to the pairing screen, then tap I’m finished pairing my devices.
  6. Tap Manage next to your camera to rename it and customise your motion sensitivity settings.

Non-WPS activation

If you don’t have a WPS button on your modem, follow these steps to pair your camera. You’ll need the micro USB cable (the additional black cable) that is supplied in the box.

  1. Insert the micro USB end of the cable into the back of the camera. You’ll need to remove the rubber cover to access the micro USB port.
  2. Connect the Ethernet cable to the other end of the micro USB cable. Then, plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into an empty port on your modem.
  3. Connect the power supply then return to the app and tap Continue until you see the Connecting to camera screen.
  4. When your camera has successfully paired, a confirmation screen will display in the app with a camera thumbnail. Tap Next to return to the pairing screen, then tap I’m finished pairing my devices.
  5. Tap Manage next to your camera to rename it and customise your motion sensitivity settings.

Once your camera is working, remove the Ethernet cable and disconnect the micro USB cable. Plug in the camera at your desired location and check the live feed in the app to ensure it’s in a suitable place.

Keep the micro USB cable in a safe place as you may need it in future.
