You need to pair your Google Nest device with your Telstra Smart Home to be able to use your voice to control your Telstra Smart Home devices. Here’s how to do it.

Before you start

You’ll need:

  • a Smart Home Hub that’s activated with at least one Smart Home device paired to it that is compatible with Google Nest - such as a Smart Power Plug, a Smart Light Bulb, or a Smart Thermostat.
  • an activated Google Nest device

To Pair your Google Nest to Telstra Smart Home:

1.    Open the Google Home app.

2.    Your app will look similar to one of these two images; choose whichever flow best matches your screen:

a.    Option A:  

i.    Select Menu in the top left hand corner.

ii.    Select Home Control

iii.    Select the + symbol in the bottom right hand corner.

iv.    Find Telstra Smart Home in the list, and select it. Go to step 3.

b.    Option B:

i.    Tap Add from the middle of the screen.

ii.    Tap Set up device

iii.    Under ‘Works with Google’ tap Have something already set up?

iv.    Find Telstra Smart Home in the list, and select it. Go to step 3.

3.    You’ll see a login screen. Login with your Telstra ID.

4.    Read the terms and select Confirm if you agree. Then, wait a few seconds.

5.    Follow the prompts to add devices and give them nicknames if you want.

6.    Telstra Smart Home should now appear under ‘Linked’

7.    You can now use your Google Nest to control your Telstra Smart Home devices.
