Here’s how to restore the default settings in your Amazon Echo or Echo Dot by performing a factory reset. 

Before you start

A factory reset will delete your saved settings, groups and information relating to your Telstra Smart Home®.

To reset an Amazon Echo with volume buttons:

  1. Hold the Microphone off and Volume down buttons at the same time until the light ring turns orange, then blue
  2. Wait until the light ring turns off and on again
  3. You’ll see the light ring turn orange again as your device enters setup mode
  4. Open the Alexa app to connect your device to a Wi-Fi network and register it to your Amazon account.

To reset an Amazon Echo with a volume ring:

  1. Use a paper clip (or something similar) to hold in the Reset button at the base of your Amazon Echo device. Press and hold the reset button on your device until the light ring turns orange, then blue.
  2. Wait for the light ring to turn off and on again
  3. You’ll see the light ring turn orange again as your device enters setup mode
  4. Open the Alexa app to connect your device to a Wi-Fi network and register it to your Amazon account.
