Game Optimiser

To cancel a subscription:

• Sign into the My Telstra app
• Select ‘NBN’
• Select ’Extras’
• Select ‘Game Optimiser’
• Toggle ‘Remove Game Optimiser’ 

Once you have purchased your subscription through the My Telstra app, you can use and manage Game Optimiser through either a mobile app or your Smart Modem web interface.

Via mobile app

• Download the DumaOS App from either the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store
• Sign in using your Smart Modem credentials
  • Unless you have changed these credentials from defaults, they are found at the base of your modem
  • If you have changed and forgotten your credentials, you can factory reset your modem to reset your credentials to default
    Note: A factory reset will reset your modem settings to factory default, including your Wi-Fi SSID and password.
     

Via desktop

• Go to your Smart Modem web interface at http://mymodem/ or http://192.168.0.1/ 
• Sign in using your Smart Modem credentials
  • Unless you have changed these credentials from defaults, they are found at the base of your modem
  • If you have changed and forgotten your credentials, you can factory reset your modem to reset your credentials to default
    Note: A factory reset will reset your modem settings to factory default, including your Wi-Fi SSID and password.
• Game Optimiser features will be the first screen upon sign in.

You can reset your Game Optimiser settings to factory defaults on desktop by:

• Clicking the ‘i’ information icon in the top right corner when logged into the web interface
• Select ‘Reset DumaOS’

Via desktop, you can take a guided tour of the Game Optimiser interface: 

• Click the ‘i’' information icon located in the top right corner
• Select ‘Launch DumaOS Tour’.

Via desktop and mobile app, you can view more information about each feature by:

• Clicking the ‘?’ icon located in the top right corner of the feature you want to learn more about.

A common cause of lag in online games is the distance from you to th  host or server of your game.

The Geo-Filter feature is unique because it filters servers based on distance using the known geography of internet addresses. By setting a distance limit from your home, you will only connect to players or servers closer to you.

When devices in your home use all of your internet bandwidth, be it from greedy downloads or concurrent video streams, this can result in network congestion. Just like cars waiting in peak hour traffic on busy roads, network congestion causes a slowdown in the flow of information through your internet connection. For downloads and most video streaming services that buffer ahead, you usually won’t notice short periods of network congestion. However, for time sensitive applications like multiplayer gaming, players can suffer from frustrating lag in these periods.

The Quality of Service (QoS) feature gives you hands-on control to help curb this problem, by being able to set the priority and bandwidth reservation for your favourite game. Simple sliders let you change QoS settings on the fly and you can setup prioritisation both by your device or their specific applications using ports.

Device Manager is designed to help give insight into how your network is set up. It easily identifies and manages the devices connected to your network. Device Manager displays your connected devices, how they are connected, and which devices are currently offline.

Adblocker blocks ads you specify from a regularly updated blacklist of ads for every device connected to your network – including Smart TVs, consoles, mobile apps and more. By default, Adblocker will block most online advertising and telemetry domains with no extra steps needed.

Ping Heatmap pings your favourite game’s servers, displaying your connection quality to each server on a world map. You can build a Ping History for your favourite servers to monitor the quality of the hosts you play on over time. You can use this information to help apply Geo-Filter settings suited to you. 

Connection Benchmark runs a full connection test from your modem, checking throughput (speeds), ping quality and performance under congestion (also known as bloat). You can Schedule Tests and store them in Test History to see how your network is performing over time.

Traffic Controller allows you to restrict the different devices on your network to only access specific online applications when you want them to. Automatically freeze the internet on your own schedule on any of your household devices, all from one place.

• Set Routine – Block traffic on specific applications or devices with ease, be it the kids’ bedtime or for improved network security.
• Custom Control – Kids supposed to be using the PC for schoolwork?  Block access to streaming, games and other specific traffic for minimal distraction.

The Network Monitor helps you to identify who, or what, is using your network thanks to enterprise level networking technology.

It breaks down your live network usage to help you spot greedy applications or devices.
