This article gives you step-by-step instructions to add a Telstra Mail email account to your Outlook 2007 mail program and tells you the mail server names and numbers that you’ll need.

Before you start

You'll need your Telstra Mail email address and password.

To add your Telstra email address to Outlook 2007:

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook 2007

    If the Microsoft Outlook 2007 wizard appears:

    • Select Next
    • In the Email Accounts window select Yes
    • Select Next then go to Step 5
  2. If the Microsoft Outlook 2007 wizard does NOT appear go to Step 2.

  3. Open the ‘Tools’ menu then select Account Settings

  4. In the ‘Email Accounts’ window, select the Email tab, then select New

  5. In the ‘Auto Account Setup’ window:

    • Make sure Manually configure server settings or additional server types is ticked
    • Select Next

  6. In the ‘Choose E-mail Service’ window:

    • Make sure Internet E-Mail is ticked
    • Select Next

  7. In the ‘Internet E-Mail Settings’ window:

    • For ‘Your name’ enter your name as you want it to appear in emails you send
    • For ‘E-mail address’ enter your Telstra email address

  8. Update the server information:

    • For ‘Account type’ select: IMAP
    • For ‘Incoming mail server’ enter:
    • For ‘Outgoing mail server (SMTP)’ enter:

  9. Update the log on information:

    • For ‘Username’ enter your Telstra email address
    • For Password’ enter your Telstra email account password. OR if you're using two-step verification enter your app password
    • Remember either password is case sensitive
    • Make sure Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) is NOT ticked.
