If it’s a Wi-Fi device:

Your Pre-Paid Mobile Broadband Wi-Fi device allows you to connect multiple Wi-Fi-enabled devices to the Telstra Mobile Network.

To set it up:

  1. Remove the back cover and the battery
  2. Insert the SIM card with the gold chip facing down
  3. Replace the battery and back cover
  4. Place the device where you get good mobile coverage in your home
  5. Press the power button until the front display activates
     

Good to know:

  • Your Pre-Paid service must be activated before it can be used for the first time. You can do this from the device when you first set up, just visit our Pre-Paid Activation page.
  • It may take up to 5 minutes for your Mobile Broadband Wi-Fi device to connect to the mobile network, the first time you use it.

Is your SIM Card activated?

If your device isn’t connecting to the Telstra Mobile Network, its SIM may not have been activated. You can do this from the device when you first set up, just visit our Pre-Paid Activation page.

To connect other devices to your device’s Wi-Fi network:

  • You’ll find your Mobile Broadband Wi-Fi network name and password on the device’s main display – or press the menu button for more options
  • On the devices you want to connect, you’ll need to search for your Mobile Broadband Wi-Fi network name, select it and then enter the password.
     

If it’s a USB device:

Your Pre-Paid Mobile Broadband USB device gives you access to the Telstra Mobile Network. It connects directly to your computer or laptop via a USB port.
 

Good to know:

  • Some USB devices are also Wi-Fi capable and can be connected directly to an AC adapter. In this case, place the device in an area that receives good mobile coverage.

To set it up:

  1. Remove the detachable panel by sliding or prying it away from the device
  2. Insert the SIM card with the gold chip facing down
  3. Replace the detachable panel
  4. Power up the device by inserting into a USB slot or connecting to an AC adapter (if Wi-Fi enabled)
     

Good to know:

  • It may take up to 5 minutes for your Mobile Broadband USB device to configure with your PC.
  • Your Pre-Paid service must be activated before it can be used for the first time. You can do this from the device when you first set up, just visit our Pre-Paid Activation page.

  • If your USB device is Wi-Fi capable and connected to an AC adapter you can find your Wi-Fi Network name and password in the packaging or under the detachable panel.
  • On the devices you want to connect, you’ll need to search for your Mobile Broadband Wi-Fi network name, select it and then enter the password. You can also plug your USB device directly into compatible devices.
