The sock thief

Someone’s been stealing Kate’s socks from her laundry, and she has more than a sneaking suspicion it’s Gracie the dog. To catch her in action, Kate’s installed a Door Sensor to the laundry door and receives an SMS alert when Gracie manages to push the door open. Kate’s set up her indoor camera on the laundry bench, to film Gracie’s antics. When Kate checks the app, she sees the sock thief in action.

Bring your Smart Home to life

The key to having a Smart Home is creating automations. An automation is an instruction that tells a Smart Home device what to do and when to do it  It's easy to set up automations in the Telstra Smart Home App or Web Portal. For example:

  • Check in on the run – watch a live HD camera feed of your home when you’re out and about, day or night
  • Don’t miss a thing – take a video or picture when the camera picks up any unexpected activity
  • Forgotten if you closed the back door? Check in the app
  • Receive an SMS or email alerts based on the automations you’ve set up
  • Have your Telstra ID handy as you will need it when signing in for the first time

Professional installation of a Starter Kit

  • It may take up to two hours to professionally install a Starter Kit.
  • The $240 professional installation fee covers the basic installation of the Smart Home Starter Kit only. This includes the pairing of Smart Home devices, basic placement of devices around your home (not mounting a device on the wall or ceiling), a demonstration on how to use Smart Home and the Smart Home App, and setting up automations.

Additional fees apply for:
Installation or configuration of additional Smart Home devices. These devices can be installed at the same time as the Starter Kit, at an additional cost for each device.

Additional Smart Home technician visits, if additional devices are to be installed after the initial set up of the Starter Kit. You can choose to have additional Smart Home devices professionally installed later, and this will incur a call out fee of $96 per visit, plus additional charges for each device.

Customised installations including cabling runs, cable concealment and wall or ceiling mounting of cameras. The additional charges for a customised installation will be quoted by the technician when on-site.

Self-installation

  • Download Telstra Smart Home App on an iPhone, iPad or Android™ [link to download location] smartphone or tablet. The app will help you set up your Smart Home Hub and add devices with step-by-step instructions, videos and illustrations.

The camera’s power cable needs to be connected to an indoor power outlet where it’s protected from the weather and in range of your home Wi-Fi network.
  • The door and window sensors are easy to install with adhesive strips or screws included in your kit.
