To be eligible for the Telstra Device Locator feature you’ll need a Telstra post-paid or Pre-Paid mobile service with a compatible iOS or Android device and the My Telstra App. You’ll also need a Telstra ID.
The Telstra Device Locator feature is for personal use only and must not be used for business purposes.
The Telstra Device Locator feature can help you locate compatible Telstra post-paid or Pre-Paid smartphones or SIM-enabled tablets using GPS and the Telstra Mobile Network. The last known approximate location of your eligible device will be shown on the map within the Telstra Device Locator feature.
If your device is connected to Wi-Fi, the feature will not update your location. Your last known approximate location shown will be when you were last connected to the Telstra Mobile Network.
Data charges may apply to use the Telstra Device Locator feature.
To provide you with the Telstra Device Locator feature you consent to us determining the approximate location of your compatible Telstra iOS or Android smartphones or SIM-enabled tablets. We’ll use this information so you can see the approximate location of your devices in the Telstra Device Locator feature within the My Telstra app.
You must not use the Telstra Device Locator feature to determine or track the location of a person or an object in that person’s possession without their express consent. The Telstra Device Locator feature has the potential to be used by you in a manner which could breach Federal, State and Territory privacy laws and Federal, State and Territory surveillance device laws. It is solely your responsibility to ensure that you use the Telstra Device Locator feature as permitted by all relevant laws. You indemnify us against any loss arising from a claim against us arising from your breach of any law in connection with the Telstra Device Locator feature. We may suspend or cancel your access to the Telstra Device Locator feature without liability to you if you breach this clause 6.
When you enable Telstra Device Locator, you’ll have the option to share your location. If you share your location, it’ll be able to be seen by all other people on the Telstra account for your device. If you’re not sure who these people are, ask the account owner. You can choose to not share your location at any time.
We’ll use due care and skill in providing you with the Telstra Device Locator feature. However, given the nature of telecommunications systems, we cannot promise that you’ll be able to access the feature at any given time or that the Telstra Device Locator feature will be fault free. We do not provide service level guarantees for the Telstra Device Locator feature.
You acknowledge and agree that:
while the Telstra Device Locator feature can be used to help locate compatible iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, we are not responsible if a device is lost or stolen and cannot be found using the Telstra Device Locator feature; and
we are not an insurer and we do not carry any insurance in respect of real property, or personal property that you use the Telstra Device Locator to help locate.
To the extent permitted by law and subject to section 13, we are not liable for any loss, cost, expense, liability or damage arising directly or indirectly from or in connection with your use of the Telstra Device Locator feature (including without limitation any occurrence or omission (or the consequences of any occurrence or omission) which occurs while you use the Telstra Device Locator feature, and even if the Telstra Device Locator feature is designed or used, to monitor, detect or avert the relevant occurrence or omission).
Notwithstanding clauses 9 to 11, clauses 9 to 11 do not exclude, restrict or modify our liability under a consumer guarantee in Part 3-2 Division 1 of Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) or any other warranty, guarantee or implied term not permitted to be excluded, restricted or modified by law.
You can deactivate the Telstra Device Locator feature at any time within the My Telstra app.
We may withdraw or modify the Telstra Device Locator feature. If we do this, we will provide you with reasonable notice.
If you are a small business customer, the My Telstra app has a limit of twenty devices that can be added. This limit also applies to the Telstra Device Locator feature.
