Things to do when you arrive:

  1. TURN ON your mobile phone or tablet as soon as you reach your destination, and ensure data roaming is switched on.
  2. CONNECT automatically to the local mobile network. Once connected, you’ll receive an SMS (if your device is capable of receiving SMS) from us to confirm your roaming is working, including the pay-as-you-go rates for your destination.
  3. PURCHASE your Travel Pass and enjoy the peace of mind of managing your roaming costs, and convenience of using your own number.
 

Travel Pass

A Travel Pass is one of the easiest ways to take your mobile or mobile broadband service overseas and help manage your international roaming costs.

For a one-off charge, a Travel Pass can be used in more than 40 eligible countries for the duration of the pass. While you’re in an eligible country, a Travel Pass gives you an international data allowance and unlimited voice calls and SMS to standard numbers anywhere in the world. So not only do you get the peace of mind of fixed costs, but friends and family can reach you on your own number. You can also buy multiple Travel Passes to increase your data allowance.

We recommend buying your Travel Pass once you arrive at your destination to get the most out of it, as Travel Passes start soon after they're bought. You can buy your Travel Pass on your mobile device using one of our self-care tools .

Usage alerts

We’ll send you SMS alerts to keep you informed of your spend and usage.

  • If you’re using data at our pay-as-you-go rates or exceed your Travel Pass allowance, we’ll send you an SMS for every $100 of data used
  • If you’re using data with a Travel Pass, we’ll send you alerts at 50%, 85% and 100% of your data allowance
  • If you’ve purchased a Travel Pass, you’ll also receive an expiry alert 12 hours before your pass expires, so that you can purchase another Travel Pass if required.
