Using a home or office Wi-Fi network
- Connect both your old and new phones to your home or office Wi-Fi network
- Start the Telstra Device Care App on both devices
On your new phone
- Select "Content Transfer and Back Up" on the App home page.
- Select "Wirelessly transfer content"
- Select “Transfer over home Wi-Fi network”
- Select "This is my new device". You will see a page requiring a PIN.
On your old phone
- Select "Wirelessly transfer content"
- Select "Transfer over home Wi-Fi network"
- Select "This is my old device"
- Select the New device from the list provided.
- Still on the old phone, enter the PIN provided and hit "Next"
- Select the data you want to transfer by checking boxes, then click "Next"
- If you’ve already done a partial transfer, the App will give you the option to start again or skip duplicate data. Starting again will take longer.
- Your Transfer will then start.
- When it’s done, you’ll see a summary of what content was backed up. Click “finish” to complete the transfer process.
Good to know
- You can still use your devices while the transfer is taking place.
- Transfer of Contacts & Calendar only should only take 1-2 minutes. Other content like photos and videos could take hours depending on the amount of data.
- Wi-Fi transfer is the most stable method. It is recommended for transferring photos and video due to the size of the data.
