Using a home or office Wi-Fi network

  1. Connect both your old and new phones to your home or office Wi-Fi network
  2. Start the Telstra Device Care App on both devices

On your new phone

  1. Select "Content Transfer and Back Up" on the App home page.
  2. Select "Wirelessly transfer content"
  3. Select “Transfer over home Wi-Fi network”
  4. Select "This is my new device". You will see a page requiring a PIN.

On your old phone

  1. Select "Wirelessly transfer content"
  2. Select "Transfer over home Wi-Fi network"
  3. Select "This is my old device"
  4. Select the New device from the list provided.
  5. Still on the old phone, enter the PIN provided and hit "Next"
  6. Select the data you want to transfer by checking boxes, then click "Next"
  7. If you’ve already done a partial transfer, the App will give you the option to start again or skip duplicate data. Starting again will take longer.
  8. Your Transfer will then start.
  9. When it’s done, you’ll see a summary of what content was backed up. Click “finish” to complete the transfer process.

Good to know

  • You can still use your devices while the transfer is taking place.
  • Transfer of Contacts & Calendar only should only take 1-2 minutes. Other content like photos and videos could take hours depending on the amount of data.
  • Wi-Fi transfer is the most stable method. It is recommended for transferring photos and video due to the size of the data.
