We’ve taken a number of steps to support environmental sustainability onsite:
Onsite wastage plan: We’ve implemented a wastage plan that focuses on reducing both general and landfill waste. This includes providing guidelines to suppliers and exhibitors on what types of materials to avoid in their production and packaging, and clearly separating waste onsite (organic, mixed, landfill and paper) to maximise recycling.
Reducing organic waste: Telstra Vantage™ organic food wastage is donated to Oz Harvest as part of MCEC’s sustainability initiative, and this is an important consideration when selecting our menus for the event.
Avoiding plastic water bottles: Plastic water bottles will not be distributed at the event, as water fountains and water coolers are available. Eco-safe water bottles and biodegradable/compostable cups are located at each water fountain and cooler, and delegates are encouraged to bring their own water bottles to refill throughout the event.
Environmentally friendly coffee carts: Biodegradable, compostable coffee cups and reusable coffee cups will be available from all coffee carts onsite. Delegates are also encouraged to bring their own reusable cups and baristas will be happy to rinse your cup.
