Telstra will install a temporary cable with the aim of having full fixed line telephone and internet services operational for North Bundaberg residents by next Wednesday.

Telstra Country Wide Area General Manager for Country Coast and Capricornia, Doug McClure, said works will commence tomorrow morning after a restoration plan was developed today.

“We will be relocating and hauling a 2400pr temporary cable across the Burnett River,” said Mr McClure.

“Jointing will commence tomorrow morning and customer services will progressively be restored. It is anticipated that all customer fixed line telephone and internet services will be operational by next Wednesday,” he said.

“The temporary cable will continue to provide customers with services until the cable running under the Burnett River is replaced. In the meantime, we will be working towards the installation of a permanent cable in the near future.

“We apologise to local households and business for the interruption of services” he said.
