Telstra and SAP sign alliance to deliver with Accenture, SAP solutions from Telstra's cloud

Media Release, 22 June 2013

Telstra and SAP today announced the expansion of their partnership by formalising an alliance to deliver with Accenture, a suite of hosted solutions to enterprise and government customers across Australia.

As part of the agreement, Telstra will provide SAP licensing, network, compute and storage infrastructure, while Accenture will manage system integration, migration, SAP application maintenance and help desk services.

The three companies have developed and optimised a range of locally hosted SAP solutions that can be delivered to Telstra customers out of it’s cloud infrastructure. The alliance will allow customers access to expanded capability, deployed more rapidly and delivered through a single, integrated, end-to-end service model from a secure and scalable cloud environment.

Enterprises and government agencies that want to achieve business agility and cost management through the cloud, will be able to migrate their existing on-premise SAP environments to Telstra or build new SAP systems into a fully managed private cloud. State of the art mobility and analytics functionality are being jointly developed through this alliance as part of the solution roadmap.

Security is assured with these new SAP applications leveraging Telstra’s significant network investments in secure intelligent networks and it’s owned and managed data centres, data processing and data storage capability. Hosted locally, across multiple geographically diverse centres, Telstra’s network meets stringent government standards, including Telstra’s recent ISO27001 accreditation and 24/7 network, security and operations monitoring.

Mark Pratley, General Manager Cloud Services, Telstra Enterprise & Government, noted that the partnership was part of Telstra’s $800m investment in cloud services.

“These new solutions will provide the ability for customers to move SAP into the cloud in a simpler, secure and scalable manner from a single, reliable source. Both Telstra and Accenture will continue to innovate and develop more hosted SAP solutions that will significantly reduce the cost of ownership and a new way to deliver business applications.”

Jeremy Goddard, Head of Business Solutions and Cloud, SAP Australia and New Zealand said, “SAP’s cloud strategy is fundamentally centered around helping companies of all sizes to effectively leverage cloud computing according to their needs. This agreement with Telstra will provide customers with the options they need when choosing to move to a cloud environment by delivering flexible cloud offerings.”

Glenn Heppell, Accenture Go-To-Market Alliance Lead said, “This announcement builds on the existing relationships between Accenture, SAP and Telstra, and further demonstrates the value we can provide to the Australian market by leveraging the strengths of all three organisations.”

SAP recently certified Telstra’s cloud infrastructure (September 2011), enabling organisations that want to run their SAP applications out of Telstra’s cloud to do so. Today’s announcement extends this choice and expands and enhances capability open to Telstra customers.
