Thousands of Australians will soon have access to more free-to-air television content thanks to the launch of SBS ON DEMAND, SBS’s catch up service, on the Telstra T-Box.

From next month, Telstra will partner with SBS to provide the SBS ON DEMAND application on T-Box, giving customers access to the vast range of the high quality, unique programming that SBS in known for.

TV shows, movies and event footage from around the world is all available, at any time, whenever users want including entire series, full episodes and clips.

Telstra Director IPTV and Pay TV Eric Kearley said the partnership with SBS was part of an ongoing plan to bring more FTA content to T-Box customers.

“Catch Up TV is all about having the flexibility to watch your favourite programs even if you can’t sit down to watch them live on TV.

“This partnership with SBS opens up a great deal of fantastic content to our customers, available on-demand after its broadcast.

“We are working on adding more free-to-air catch up services to the T-Box which we hope to announce soon.”

Marshall Heald, SBS Chief Digital Officer, said: “SBS is delighted to be partnering with Telstra and continuing to make our distinctive content as broadly available as possible.

“The vast range of SBS content will now be accessible to T-Box customers at a time that suits them. We are also proud that SBS continues to be at the forefront of cross platform availability in Australia, with our app and content available on more platforms that any other broadcaster.”

SBS ON DEMAND on T-Box is expected to launch in September 2014 and will sit within a new “Catch Up TV” menu item, which will be listed on the main menu of the T-Box (see attached imagery).

The content available will include all SBS “Catch Up” TV content, as well as other video content SBS makes available on its App.
