Best New South Wales businesses vying for prestigious awards

Media Release, 25 June 2013

Businesses providing niche products, including a schnapps distillery, a manufacturer of natural skin care products and a producer of pet products are among the 23 finalists in the 2013 Telstra NSW Business Awards.

Rufus & Coco, a Cremorne pet products business, iKOU, a Blue Mountains retailer and day spa that supplies natural skin care and body products that are sold to global hotel chains, and Australia’s only dedicated schnapps distillery, Snowy Mountains-based wildbrumby schnapps, are amoung this years’ finalists.

Others finalists include Sydney-based Five D Holdings, property and facility managers that manage more than 4000 leased properties covering two million square metres, Barker Ryan Stewart, a consultancy that provides developers with town planning, engineering and certification services, and LeadBolt, a Bondi Junction digital advertising leader whose technology serves five billion ads a month to customers in more than 100 countries.

Two inner city dance centres, the classical dance-focused Academy Ballet run by Sinead Vidler in Alexandria, and Darlinghurst’s Tropical Soul Dance Studio, whose owners Juan Ruiz and Josie Cote offer 35 classes a week in Latin dance styles, are also among the finalists.

Will Irving, Telstra Business Group Managing Director and Ambassador for the Telstra Australian Business Awards, said the range and experience of New South Wales businesses vying for this year’s awards was a positive sign for the growth of the local economy.

“The calibre of New South Wales finalists in this year’s awards is outstanding and goes to show why small and medium businesses are the backbone of Australia.

“It is so important that we recognise the businesses that support our local communities and celebrate the significant contribution they make by creating jobs, driving innovation and bringing their expertise and innovations to customers - locally and all over the world,” said Mr Irving.
