Announcing the new Racing Network Official App for iPhone

Media Release, 31 October 2012

Racing fans can now watch all Victorian and Sydney races live on their iPhone with the launch today of the Racing Network Official app for iPhone.

As well as live streaming of the races, the app also provides punters with: race replays, race results, race form guides, live odds, horse profiles, expert race commentary and the latest racing news.

The app is the result of a partnership between TVN and Australia’s leading telecommunications and digital content provider, Telstra, who have exclusive rights to provide live streaming of all Victorian races, including the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, and Sydney metropolitan races.

The Racing Network Official app for iPhone is available across all phone providers and is free to download now from the Apple iTunes Stores.

Punters can access the live streaming by either paying for a subscription via the iTunes store (monthly pass $19.99) or by subscribing online via www.racingnetwork.com.au (Vision Day Pass $9.99/Vision Monthly $19.99/ Vision Yearly $199.99).  Racing Network online subscribers can access the iPhone app for free, by using their racingnetwork.com.au subscriber details.

Telstra customers receive the extra benefit of no data charges and the unmatched coverage of the 3G and 4G network.
Telstra’s Executive Director of Digital Media and IPTV, J-B Rousselot, said the new app was the first of its kind in Australia and a big win for Australian racing fans.

“We’re delighted to be launching the Racing Network app in time for the Spring Racing Carnival, giving punters access to all the action, live at their fingertips, wherever they might be,” Mr Rousselot said.

“Telstra is proud to be at the forefront of changing how punters can be part of the races, from online coverage at BigPond, IPTV streaming through T-Box and now a dedicated iPhone app.

“Racing fans no longer have to do a frantic search for a TV when their big race is on; they can now watch it from their iPhone wherever they are, as well as listen to live, expert race commentary and access all the latest racing information.

“Telstra is committed to delivering our customers leading content anywhere, on any device, and at any time. Telstra’s network superiority across both 3G and 4G networks means customers will receive the best experience with the Racing Network app through faster download speeds, faster streaming and no data costs for using the service,” Mr Rousselot said.

Chief Executive of TVN, Peter Sweeney, said racing fans are the big winners.

“Following the successful launch of racingnetwork.com.au, TVN and Telstra have taken race watching to the next level with the new Racing Network Official app for iPhone – the first of its kind in Australia.

“This evolution is consistent with TVN’s aim to use the latest technology to bring our customers the best live racing, wherever, whenever and however they want it delivered. These are exciting times for racing.

“Together, Telstra and TVN are proving to be true weight-for-age performers.”

An Android and iPad app is planned for early next year.
