Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ awarded Telstra Blue Tick Certification

Telstra today announced that the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+, on sale later this week (March 16th), have been awarded Blue Tick certification. The Blue Tick means the new Samsung smartphones provide the best possible coverage in rural and regional areas and join those handsets that Telstra recommends for use by regional customers to provide them with the best coverage experience.

Kevin Teoh, Telstra’s Head of Mobiles, said: “The Telstra Mobile Network is Australia’s largest, fastest and the most reliable, but user experience is not just about the network it is also about the handset. For this reason Telstra established Blue Tick certification to recommend products which have passed specific testing and which will, as a result, deliver superior voice coverage performance for our customers in regional and rural areas. We are happy to report that the new Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ both came through our extensive field and lab tests with flying colours and are duly awarded our Blue Tick certification”. (Fastest network based on national average combined 3G/4G mobile speeds).

About Telstra’s Blue Tick:

  • Telstra’s Blue Tick signifies that a mobile device has been thoroughly tested and delivers superior voice coverage in rural and regional areas
  • It was established by Telstra 11 years ago to help regional customers choose the phone that would provide them with the best coverage experience
  • Devices are tested for receiver sensitivity in a laboratory under controlled conditions and in rural areas on the Telstra Mobile Network, ensuring optimal call quality for customers

The Telstra Mobile Network offers 4GX in all capital CBDs and selected suburban and regional areas and is progressively rolling out to more places. In other coverage areas around Australia you’ll automatically switch to our fastest available 4G or 3G.

In 4GX areas, typical download speeds are 5-300Mbps for 4GX category 18 devices.

Speeds vary for reasons like location, distance from base stations, terrain, user numbers, hardware/software configuration, download source and upload destination. To check the coverage and available speeds in your area, see our coverage map at Telstra.com/coverage.
