Security
Security of data and information is a critical issue for any company or organisation. Telstra is doing its part to try and ensure that our customers are protected:
- The login page is secured by 128-bit SSL, so login credentials are encrypted
- Local peer-to-peer traffic is blocked, which means that someone in the same hotspot can’t directly access your device or its contents
- When using SMS one-time password authentication, login information is temporary and someone intercepting your password will not be able to re-use it
- Telstra is constantly evaluating enhancements to the 802.11 protocol.
- For additional security requirements Telstra offer solution through our Telstra Private IP products.
IT departments can implement the following additional measures to protect information if extra security is required:
- They should use a personal firewall to block unexpected traffic on their device
- They should ensure that application level security such as 128-bit SSL is enabled for websites where they are transmitting sensitive data (eg online shopping or online banking)
- And they should use end-to-end security mechanisms, such as IP-SEC, to encrypt their data when accessing a corporate Intranet. IP-SEC is a feature of Telstra Private IP Solutions’ "Secure IP Roaming" service.
