For best results, use this device on the Next G™ network in metropolitan areas, and in and around major regional centres and towns. It’s recommended that the device be used with the supplied USB cable. This device does not support an external antenna.

Getting Started

Once you’ve purchased your Telstra Pre-Paid Wireless Broadband pack, getting onto the internet is easy:

1. Call us on 125 8880 to activate the SIM card in the pack. If you’re under 18 years of age, you’ll need the consent of your parent or a responsible adult to use this service.
2. Plug the USB modem included in the pack into your computer and watch the software automatically install itself and load the internet Connection Manager
3. Click on the Connection Manager and then use your regular browser eg Internet Explorer to get onto the internet.

Pricing

Your data rates and allowance are determined by your recharge amount. So the higher the recharge the more you get.

The following rates will apply in Australia:

Any unused credit expires after 30 days. Recharging within the 30 days by these amounts will reset the 30 day credit expiry period. The data rate is determined by your most recent recharge amount.

Sending SMS from your laptop

You can send and receive text messages on your computer using the SMS Inbox in the Connection Manager, which is great if you’re unable to use your mobile.

Recharging

You can recharge whatever amount you want to suit how much you think you’re going to use the Internet, whether you just want to check your email each day or you’re into surfing the web.

Here are some examples to help you choose how much you recharge:

Recharge $30⁶and you could⁷

• do 15 Google searches,
• check your email 11 times and
• visit Myspace 8 times.

Recharge $60⁶and you could⁷

• do 40 Google searches,
• check your email 33 times and
• visit Myspace 50 times.

Recharge $100⁶and you could⁷

• do 100 Google searches,
• download 200 tracks and
• visit Myspace 400 times.

Recharge by using your connection manager or by getting a recharge card available at over 5500 retail outlets around Australia such as 7Eleven and Woolworths.

Except for recharges using Credit Me 2U™, the expiry date for all recharge amounts is 30 days however if you recharge before 30 days, your credit expiry date is re-set to 30 days from the date of recharge. Different credit expiry rules apply for recharges using Credit Me2U™ - see below for full details.

You can recharge using the following payment options:

1. Credit card

From the My Account main menu you’ll be able to select a recharge amount and enter in your credit card details. You’ll also have the option to save your credit card details for future recharges and schedule monthly recharges to take out the hassle of recharging.

2. Electronic Voucher or Card

Exactly like a Pre-Paid mobile, you can purchase an Electronic voucher or card from over 5500 Telstra Shops or participating retailers. You can easily activate your voucher from the My Account main menu.

3. CreditMe2U™

Credit Me2U™ is a handy option that allows you to transfer credit, or have credit transferred to you, between Telstra Pre-Paid services. You can transfer whole dollar amounts up to $10 credit between Telstra Pre-Paid Mobile and Wireless Broadband accounts in any 24 hour period. This is ideal for a quick top up when you need it. This is also available from your My Account main menu.

Transfers of credit using Credit Me2U™ to your Telstra Pre-Paid Wireless Broadband service will result in data rates being increased to the highest rate regardless of your existing balance, so if you recharge $5 or below a data rate of $1 per MB² will apply and if you recharge $5.01 - $10 a data rate of 13.3c per MB² will apply.

Please note that Credit Me2U™ transfers will not extend your existing credit expiry date if your credit expiry is 14 days or more on the date of the Credit Me2U™ transfer. You will keep that credit expiry date for the total of your account balance. If you have less than 14 days credit expiry on the date of the Credit Me2U™ transfer, your main account expiry date will be extended to the 14 days.

4. BPAY®

You can recharge with BPAY by using Phone or Internet banking with your financial institution.

International Roaming

You can use Telstra Pre-Paid Wireless Broadband when travelling overseas so you can stay in touch with friends and family. International Roaming to over 20 countries is automatically available on your Telstra Nest G™ Pre-Paid SIM Card. International roaming will be charged at 1.5c per KB ($15.36 per MB)².

International roaming data usage will be charged at 1.5c per KB ($15.36 per MB)².

SMS sent from any country (except Australia) will be charged at 65c per SMS sent per recipient.
