Working with the Community
The growth of our community support since June 2000 is testament to the commitment we have, to the communities that our people live and work in.
Whether it be financial assistance to purchase much needed equipment and maintain facilities, or people, being there to deliver services and rebuild in times of adversity, in essence it's about bringing local communities together.
Here are some of the things that members of the community have had to say about Telstra's support in regional and rural Australia.
John Mills, President, Linking Tasmanian Seniors: "Receiving a Telstra Connected Seniors Grant has helped us provide opportunities for seniors in Tasmania learn how to use mobiles and computers in a relaxed, welcoming environment which makes it easier for them to keep in touch with their families and friends."
Rebekka Battista, Funding Coordinator, Our Kids, NSW: "Our Kids supports local families and their children by purchasing vital medical equipment for Lismore Base Hospital and we could not do what we do without Telstra who year after year come on board to be part of the Our Kids family."
Brett Kleidon, President, Toowoomba East Junior Australian Football League Club, Qld: "The Telstra Assistance Fund has allowed us to free up funds that would otherwise be spent on equipment, meaning that we can now spend on coaching, first aid accreditation and other things required to keep a club running."
Rob Latta, Telstra Master Athlete of the Year, Mallee Sports Assembly, Vic: "Winning the Telstra Master Athlete of the Year award at the Mallee Sports Assembly was a fantastic honour, and thanks to Telstra this award encourages people of all ages to strive to be active and healthy. Thanks Telstra for sponsoring the award and local sports!"
Ashley Keegan, General Manger, Food and Beverage Australia Ltd, SA: "Telstra's cutting edge telecommunications technology has ensured that we can continue to produce during one of Australia's worst droughts, by helping us transport water from the Murray River to our local vineyards... The partnership we share with the local Telstra Country Wide team has been key in improving the efficiency of our business."
Peter Duncan, President, Bunbury Surf Life Saving Club, WA: "Telstra's 'Answer the Call' Campaign will help make a real difference to the Bunbury Surf Life Saving Club and the local community, as we intend to put these much needed funds into purchasing surf rescue equipment."
But it's just the start; we look forward to continuing our commitment, now and into the future.
