I am a new Telstra customer and want to connect a home phone

Whether you are switching from another supplier, or looking at getting a home phone for the first time - we're glad you're considering Telstra.

What do I need to do to get a Telstra home phone?

Simply:

  1. Decide on a Telstra HomeLine™ plan that suits your call needs and budget
  2. Complete the moving home form online OR call us on 13 22 00
    (Monday - Friday 7am - 6pm and Saturday 8am - 6pm local time)

Before you apply, it's best to have the following info handy:

  • Your driver's license or some form of ID
    Telstra will only accept applications from service connections from persons who are 18 years or older.
  • Your home address
  • The date that you'd like to have the Telstra home phone connected (Can include weekends)

This will help us to process your application as quickly as possible.

Starting my move

If you are moving to an address that has been recently occupied, there will generally be an existing line which we can connect to. In these circumstances we can usually have you connected within 2 working days. A connection charge of $59 will apply for the first connection, as long as a Telstra technician is not required to visit.

If the home phone line needs to be reconnected or a new home phone line is needed, we'll advise you of the timing and applicable charges by email when you submit your moving home form OR when you call us on 13 22 00 (Monday - Friday 7am - 6pm and Saturday 8am - 6pm local time).

If a Telstra technician is required to visit your address, you can conveniently request for the appointment to be on any day - including weekends.

Can I keep my phone number?

We can transfer your existing home phone number to your new home when you move locally within an exchange area. If you're moving further afield, we can even ensure you remain contactable on your old number with our Number Redirection service.

If you need a new number we'll give you a range of numbers to choose from.

What are my Phone options?

Telstra Rental Phones

Choose from a great range of standard and Calling Number Display (CND) rental phones. Our rental phones are designed for Australian conditions and feature a lifetime warranty, as well as one touch access to HomeLine� features like MessageBank, Call Waiting and Call Back.

View the range of corded and cordless phones available online or visit your nearest Telstra Shop.

What happens after I apply online?

After you've submitted your online application you'll automatically receive an email confirmation. Please keep this confirmation email for any queries.

Once we process your application (this generally happens within 48 hours or less) we'll send you another email with your Order Number and status and any other questions we might have.

You can check your order status at any time by calling us on 13 22 00 or emailing us and quoting your Order Number.
