MOVING TELSTRA SERVICES

Moving your home phone, mobile, BigPond® and FOXTEL from Telstra services

If you're an existing Telstra or BigPond customer it's easy to move and request additional services for your new home. Just complete the Moving Home form online or contact us by phone. Don't forget to contact us at least a week before your move and one of our dedicated moving experts will ensure your services get connected and are up and running at your new home.

It's best to have the following info handy:

  • Your new address
  • The Telstra/BigPond and/or FOXTEL from Telstra Account Number(s) of the services you are moving - normally found on a copy of your recent bill.

What happens after I apply online?

Once you've completed the Moving Home form online, we'll keep you updated on how things are going:

  • You'll automatically receive an email and/or SMS confirmation. Please save it for any queries.
  • We'll start processing your application (closer to your move date) and contact you (via email, phone or SMS) with your Order Number, your order status and any other questions we might have.

To check your order status at any time, just note your Order Number and contact us.

Telephone line connection

A working telephone socket exists from a previous connection and a Telstra technician is not required to visit your property or premises.

Telephone line connection with a technician visit

A previous telephone service existed at your premises and a Telstra technician is required to visit your property / premises to reconnect existing suitable cabling at the distributor and / or the first socket.

(a) New telephone line connection - a telephone service has not previously been connected at your property or premises (although we may have previously installed cabling to your property or premises and you may be able to hear a dial tone); or

(b) Telephone line connection with a technician visit with cabling work - a previous telephone service existed at your property or premises and a technician is required to visit your property or premises to install and / or work on the cabling up to the first socket in the property or premises.

Transfer your Foxtel from Telstra, FOXTEL iQ or FOXTEL iQ2 to your new place.

Standard metro installs only. Additional costs may apply in Western Australia.

$25.00 per outlet for new connections. Note: There is no charge for the transfer of an existing additional outlet when the primary outlet is transferred

Things you need to know

  1. Not available to business customers. An eligible pensioner may apply to receive the Telstra Pensioner Discount on either one new service connection, or one inplace connection, at their principal place of residence only. Customers must contact us and request the Telstra Pensioner Discount to be applied to their service; it is not automatically applied. The customer must re-apply for the concession if they are new or returning to Telstra.
  2. If installed at the same time, at the same premises and for the same customer as the first connection. Additional charges may apply for items such as cabling past the first socket, trenching or more difficult installations. We will advise you of these charges when we confirm the connection at your new home.
  3. A temporary connection charge applies if your home phone service is connected for three months or less. If you cancel your service within three months, then you will need to pay the $100 difference between the standard and temporary connection charge to correctly reflect your connection type.

Handsets & Numbers

What about my Telstra rental phone?

Just take your rental phone with you and we'll charge it to your account as usual. Or take the opportunity to upgrade to a new corded or cordless phone online or by visiting a Telstra Store.

Can I keep my phone number?

To minimise the hassle of moving, we can transfer your existing home phone number to your new home when you move locally within an exchange area. If you're moving further afield, we will let you know your new number once we process your application.
