Step 2: Choose a mobile phone option

With Telstra's Casual Plan, there are three mobile phone options.

1. Mobile Repayment Option (MRO)

As the name suggests, you choose to pay as much or as little upfront for a mobile phone and then repay the remainder over 12 or 24 months, interest free.

Here is an example of how it works:

  • Choose a Casual Plan eg. $20 plan.
  • Choose a mobile phone from our large range eg. Samsung A501 = $528 outright.
  • Choose from one of Telstra's MRO tiers by deciding how much you want to pay each month and over what timeframe eg. $528 on a 24-month tier.

This means that you would pay $0 upfront and then $22 per month over 24 months.  (The pre-determined repayment figure from Telstra depending on contract term.)

2. Outright Purchase

Buy a mobile phone outright, from our full range.

Just buy your mobile phone outright, and there is no more to pay. Mobile phone costs can vary, but you'll always find something to suit your needs and budget. To find a mobile phone, check our Phone Select.

3. BYO: Bring your Own

This is a great option is you already have a mobile phone and simply want to connect to Telstra whilst receiving member benefits. It's important to know that if you BYO your old mobile phone you may not get all the benefits and services of Telstra's Next G™ network. This means there's never been a better reason to upgrade.

Step 3: Bringing it all together

Now that you've reviewed the Casual Plans and available mobile phones, either visit Telstra Shop Online to make your purchase now, or simply visit your nearest Telstra Shop or dealer to make your purchase.

Online Billing

There are five great reasons to register and use Online Billing:

  1. Itemised bill - all your calls are itemised and you can match names to numbers (eg. John, instead of 0412345678) to keep track of who you call.
  2. Check your bill - check your bill online, and even check those calls yet to be billed. If you have a Next G™ or 3G mobile phone, you can also check this from your mobile phone using My Account.
  3. Save the environment - Telstra customers receive 216 million A4 sheets of paper in bills every year. Help reduce the impact on our environment by registering with My Account and turning your paper bill off.
  4. Manage your account - allows you to add and remove additional services (like silent number) and change plans easily by yourself.
  5. Query your bill - save time and choose to query individual call charges from your computer without having to call and speak to an operator.

Simply visit My Account to register.

Rewards

With Reward Options, Telstra gives you even more reason to package your Telstra services.

If you have an eligible fixed service with Telstra plus at least one other eligible Telstra service, such as a mobile phone, BigPond internet or Pay TV account - simply bundle them together into one package and be rewarded.²
