Telstra Pensioner Discount
What is the Telstra Pensioner Discount?
The Telstra Pensioner Discount provides eligible pensioner customers with:
- a monthly call discount on HomeLine® Complete, HomeLine® Plus, HomeLine® Advanced, HomeLine® Reach, HomeLine® Together, HomeLine® Budget or HomeLine® Ultimate service;
- a discount on connection charges for a new home telephone service and
- free access to Call Control.
Call Control allows you to restrict the type of calls made on your phone using a Personal Identification Number (PIN) and can assist with budgeting.
The Telstra Pensioner Discount is available for one residential service per eligible pensioner customer. An eligible pensioner may apply to receive the Telstra Pensioner Discount on either one new service connection, or one in place connection, at their principal place of residence only. Customers must contact us and request the Telstra Pensioner Discount to be applied to their service.
What has changed?
From late-June 2010 ‘Discounts’ appear at the bottom of the ‘New Charges Breakdown’ section of your bill. So your Telstra Pensioner Discount (and Call Control discount if applicable) will appear at the bottom of the ‘New Charges Breakdown’ for the relevant HomeLine® plan. The Pensioner Discount may seem to appear twice on a customer’s bill. However, that is because there are two types of Pensioner Discounts not a repeat of the same discount.
Here's an example of how the New Charges Breakdown section on your bill will look:

Plan Details
Your HomeLine plan is now presented at the standard-rated price.
Discounts
The relevant discount amount listed under the ‘Discounts’ section to help you understand how the discount was applied.
Total New Charges
‘Total New Charges’ is the total net of Discounts. Please be assured that the way in which this discount is calculated or the price of your HomeLine plan has not changed, only where and how they are presented on your bill. Why were these changes made to my bill?
We're always looking for ways to improve and simplify things for our customers. We received feedback that it wasn´t always easy to understand how discounts were applied, so we tested some changes with customers and trust that you also find these an improvement. What happened to the Your Account Benefits section on my bill?
A section of your bill on the top of the second page called Your Account Benefits used to show a summary of discounts included in your bill. This section was provided for your information only but caused some customer confusion. We now apply the relevant discounts directly underneath the service they relate to, as per the example above. Has the price of my HomeLine plan gone up?
No. Previously we presented your HomeLine plan charge net of the Telstra Pensioner Discount. To help understand how your bill is calculated we now show your HomeLine plan at the standard-rated price and have a separate ‘Discount’ section directly under the HomeLine plan the Telstra Pensioner Discount relates to.
