Action Plan

Telstra recognises that it is an ongoing challenge to ensure customers with a disability have access to the latest advances in communications.

In 1996 Telstra formalised commitments to enhancing telecommunications for people with a disability by becoming one of the first major Australian corporations to lodge a Disability Action Plan with the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission.

The process of creating and lodging the action plan involves a commitment from the whole organisation, and extensive consultation with peak disability groups via our Disability Forum. Our fourth and current plan includes a number of new areas of activity to address emerging issues identified via customers, consumers and other stakeholders; a continuation of existing initiatives - improving on those where possible; and our compliance and consultation programs.
