The demand register has largely achieved its purpose. Broadband is already available at 2400 exchanges
serving more than 90 per cent of all Australian households and businesses. Many of these exchanges have
been upgraded as a direct result of local campaigns for broadband and many people have registered their
interest in broadband with a Service Provider via the ADSL demand registration scheme.
Telstra has also recently made wireless Broadband available to 98 per cent of Australians through our
new $1billion Next G™ network.
Telstra has moved to a proactive enablement program from 8 December
06, which will put more towns online. The information in the demand
register has been captured in our business systems and will be taken
into account. In any case, customers can still register their interest
via the BigPond
Broadband website.
