Things You Need to Know

Important message: Telstra has sold Say G’day ™ to Cardcall. You can continue to use the remaining value on your Telstra Say G’day card until your card expires.

However you can no longer purchase new Telstra Say G’day cards online or top up your existing Telstra Say G’day card using a credit card or BPAY®. You can continue to transfer value between your Telstra Say G’day cards until they expire.

Say G’day calling card is made available to you by Telstra Corporation Limited. By purchasing an electronic card, or by opening the package of a physical card, you have agreed to the following important terms and conditions. Please read them before using your card.

  1. Say G’day cards can be used in Australia from most touchtone phones for local, national long distance, mobile (including calls to and from global and satellite services) and international calls from Australia.
  2. Say G’day cards cannot be used to call 1900 or 0500 numbers, operator assisted calls or calls from pre-paid mobiles. You can only make calls to 13 or 1800 numbers using your card from fixed phones.
  3. Call charges. You can make calls using either the 1300 or 1800 access number. When using the 1300 654 603 access number, applicable 1300 call charges apply in addition to Say G’day charges (coins required when calling from Telstra public payphones). When using the 1800 099 032 convenience access number, all timed calls incur a 10c per min charge in addition to the Say G’day per min charges below (calls from mobile phones also incur applicable mobile charges). In addition to the 1300 access charge/1800 charge above, the following charges also apply. Untimed local calls incur a 66c charge. National long distance calls are charged at 9.9c per min. Fixed to mobile calls are charged at 44c per min. International long distance calls, calls to and from an Optus MobileSat service and calls to Inmarsat, Thuraya and Iridium global and satellite services are charged at the rates set out in the Calling Cards Section of Our Customer Terms. Calls to international mobile (non-roaming) numbers (such as international mobiles, pagers, voicemail services and personal numbers) in some destinations incur an additional charge. No connection fee applies to any calls. Timed calls are charged in 60 sec blocks. All rates are GST inclusive.
    Voicemail charges. Voicemail messages are charged 66c per message retrieved, plus any applicable call charges.
    Current charges. For current details on the applicable charges, rates and fees relevant to the Say G’day card and standard Telstra public payphone charges, please call Telstra Customer Service on FREECALL™ 1800 616 606 (free call from most fixed phones), visit the Say G’day website (www.telstra.com.au/callingcardshop) or see the Calling Cards Section or Public Payphones section (as applicable) of Our Customer Terms (available for inspection at most Telstra Shops or online at www.telstra.com.au/customerterms/index.htm).
  4. You can view your Say G’day card details and transaction history online by registering & signing in at www.telstra.com.au/callingcardshop. You can only view the last 100 transactions on your card since the date of registration. Transactions appear in your transaction history and balance within one hour. You cannot view this information after your card expires.
  5. You can transfer value from another Telsta Say G’day card. This will transfer the total value remaining on the card. You can only make three transfers to a card per day and five transfers to a card per week.
  6. The card is valid until the earlier of the end date set out on the card or 12 months from first use. After this time unused credit is forfeited.
  7. A summary about your and our liability in relation to the Say G’day card follows. The complete liability provisions are located in the General Terms of Our Customer Terms (see above) and it is very important that you read them. Our liability to customers: We accept liability in relation to our breach of contract or negligence if it causes personal injury or death. We will also replace or repair any damage to property as a result of our breach or negligence. In all other cases, we may exclude or limit our liability depending, amongst other things, on whether you are a consumer, small business or corporate customer. To the extent that our liability cannot be lawfully excluded but can be limited, our liability is limited to resupplying or repairing the relevant services or goods where it is fair and reasonable to do so. Your liability to us: Generally customers are liable to us for breach of contract or negligence under the principles applied by the courts. Some customers may also be required to indemnify us for certain types of losses we suffer.
  8. Telstra is not liable for lost or stolen cards or for unused credit on those cards. Unused credit on a lost or stolen card is not refundable or transferable.
  9. You must not deface, modify, tamper with or print anything on a Say G’day card.
  10. You cannot redeem your Say G’day card for cash or other goods.
  11. You may not be able to call every number in a particular destination. Telstra can withdraw services to any destination without personally notifying you. Where reasonably practicable, we will publish a notice in a national daily newspaper 30 days before we withdraw any destination. If you have purchased a card for the purposes of making calls to the withdrawn destination, you can contact Telstra and we will refund the remaining credit on your card.
  12. Telstra may suspend, limit or cancel the Say G’day card service without notice if Telstra considers there to be excessive, unusual, illegal or improper usage of the card service..
  13. You understand and agree that Telstra may use and disclose any personal information provided by you on the terms and for the purposes (including marketing) set out in Telstra’s Privacy Statement available at http://telstra.com/res/docs/collectionstatement.asp or by calling 132200.
  14. Telstra will pay certain commissions to retailers or distributors selling Say G’day cards.
  15. Calls made using the Say G’day card are subject to the Calling Cards section of Our Customer Terms (see above).
  16. We can unilaterally change most of the terms (including call charges) on which we supply the Say G’day calling card service to you. If we change the charges for international services we will notify you by publishing a notice in a national newspaper at least 3 business days beforehand. Otherwise, in most cases, if a change is not required by law or necessary for security or technical reasons and has more than a minor detrimental impact on you, we will tell affected customers a reasonable period beforehand (such as by providing a recorded voice announcement at the number used to access the service) so affected customers who still have value on their card have a reasonable opportunity to use up any value before the change. If a change will have a detrimental impact, we may also publish a notice in a relevant newspaper summarising the change 3 business days beforehand.
