ISDN2 replaces an existing analogue phone line with the equivalent of two digital lines, reducing line rental costs and giving your business greater flexibility.
In most cases, you can keep your existing phone number1 and use it for regular phone calls or faxes. The other line will have a new phone number and can be used for internet and other data services such as video conferencing or wide-area network communications.2 It can be used as a second line for phone calls or faxes. You can also run EFTPOS3 through the same connection as your phone and internet access lines.

- An upgrade from analogue to digital, replacing one line with two.
- The flexibility for each line to carry both voice and data services.
- Greater bandwidth than dial-up over analogue phone lines. Each new line is capable of 64Kbps. Using both lines for data access delivers up to 128Kbps, allowing transfer of graphics, studio-quality video and large data files. When accompanied by an ISDN compatible internet plan, ISDN provides internet and email access.
- Dedicated spare capacity; only one service line is required for telephones, faxes or computers, allowing you to use the other line to work remotely in the field or at home.
- Video conferencing facilities, including live, full-colour, two-way video and audio and data communication (additional equipment required).

- Direct indial. Callers can bypass your switchboard and dial your staff directly.
- Line hunt. Directs incoming calls to your first free line.
- Multiple number5. You can add up to six extra phone numbers to your main line and connect them to additional devices.
Telstra supports ISDN2 with 24-hour fault reporting, fault restoration within 12 hours and service coverage from 7am–9pm Monday to Saturday, including public holidays.
