Fixed Line - ISDN

Flexibility with telecommunications

Integrated services digital network (ISDN) can provide phone, fax, EFTPOS, data calls or internet access, with any two of these services working simultaneously over a single line. Telstra offers a range of ISDN packages to suit small businesses, which provide:

  • Two digital connections in place of one analogue line
  • A single service for phone, fax, data calls and internet connection that removes the need to plug and unplug cables
  • Flexible internet connection speeds of up to 128Kbps if both ISDN lines are used for internet access or a minimum of around 64Kbps if one of the lines is being used for phone or fax
  • A scalable solution that can grow with your business
  • An EFTPOS connection called Argent Connect, which can operate simultaneously with two other services, such as voice and internet connection

Which ISDN solution is best for my business?

ISDN2

ISDN2 is the standard ISDN service.

  • Only one service connection is required for telephones and faxes or EFTPOS and computers
  • Your existing telephone service is upgraded to the equivalent of two digital lines with two phone numbers*
  • You gain reliable, secure and clear transfer of data including graphics, studio quality videos and large data files. You also gain internet and email access when purchased in conjunction with an ISDN compatible internet plan
  • The service supports video conferencing, including live full colour, two-way video, audio and data communication1
  • It complements existing ISDN phone systems and allows you to add more ISDN lines, as you need them

ISDN2 Enhanced

ISDN 2 Enhanced gives you the benefits of ISDN 2 plus:

  • A digital modem
  • Monthly access to a call waiting and call forward service to help you manage your calls2
  • A calling number display service on both lines for no additional charge

Telstra recommends ISDN 2 Enhanced for most small businesses.

ISDN 10/20/30

ISDN 10/20/30 is an optimal solution for businesses with 10 more lines. The service provides a minimum of 10 lines and can be scaled up to satisfy larger organisations.

Because it replaces conventional analogue lines, the 10/20/30 package allows customers to introduce a PABX connection and use our in-dial facility for all incoming calls, including voice and data.

ISDN Argent Connect

ISDN Argent Connect is a cost-effective and flexible EFTPOS package designed specifically for retail businesses. It provides:

  • A fast, secure and reliable way to transmit your EFTPOS transactions
  • High-quality digital data transmission, leading to fewer EFTPOS dropouts and faster internet access
  • Faster EFTPOS transactions than a dial-up service
  • An EFTPOS facility that can be integrated onto a single existing phone line
