Telstra Universal Connection Manager

The Universal Connection Manager (UCM) is the administrative application for your mobile broadband service. It will provide you with a range of additional features including:

  • International roaming pop up messages – when roaming overseas you will receive messages advising you of the volume of data you have used while overseas
  • Access news, weather, sport and music
  • Access to online directories such as Yellow Pages and White Pages.
  • Links to Whereis maps

The UCM supports our wide range of mobile broadband devices, including the new Telstra USB 4G and prepaid services. Please refer to the section below for more details.

Full installation download instructions

Using your Plug and Play USB device, install the current connection manager on the device and access the internet.

  • Windows® Installation:
    Step 1
    Download the Universal Connection Manager (ZIP, 33.1MB) save it somewhere like your desktop.

    Step 2

    Print these instructions & make sure all your other applications are closed. This includes, but isn't limited to email, your internet browser and word processing programs.

    Step 3

    Unzip the file & run the tmb-tucmw32-3.15.21015.exe file and follow the on screen instructions

    Step 4

    Open your Connection Manager to complete the installation
  • Mac Installation:
    Step 1
    Download the Universal Connection Manager (DMG, 11.5MB) save it somewhere like your desktop.

    Step 2
    Print these instructions & make sure all your other applications are closed. This includes, but isn't limited to email, your internet browser and word processing programs

    Step 3

    Unzip the file & run the tucmosx-tmb-3.15.21015a.dmgFile and Follow the on screen instructions

    Step 4

    Open your Connection Manager to complete the installation.

    System requirements are Mac 10.5.8 and above.

Please note the following devices support the Universal Connection Manager:

Telstra USB 4G [Sierra Wireless 320U], Ultimate® USB [Sierra Wireless USB312] or Elite® USB [Sierra Wireless USB 306,308], Turbo USB [ ZTE 633 and 633+ ] devices are Plug and Play devices, so simply plug in the device and follow the instructions.

Firmware Install Instructions

business-telstra-usb-4g.jpgTelstra has released a firmware upgrade for the Telstra USB 4G USB (Sierra AirCard 320U) that improves performance and reliability on the Telstra Next G network. It is recommended where possible that you perform this upgrade for ongoing support of your device.

  • Windows installation
    Step 1 of 6
    Check your device firmware version by clicking on tools > device information on your Connection Manager. If are running version X1_4_5_0 you have the latest firmware & do not need to update your device.

    Step 2
    Download BZ44642_X1.04.05.00_AC320U_Telstra.exe & save it somewhere you can easily find it (Like your Windows desktop) to your C:/ drive

    Step 3
    Print these instructions & make sure all your other applications are closed. This includes, but isn't limited to email, your internet browser and word processing programs.

    Step 4
    Click on “File” & select “Exit & Turn of Mobile Broadband Device” Broadband Manager. This will exit the Telstra Connection Manager.

    Ensure that your Telstra 4G AirCard 320u is still plugged into your computer. Double click on the update file you downloaded in step 1 & follow the on screen instructions.

    Once complete open the Mobile Broadband Manager to complete the update.
  • Mac installation
    Step 1 of 7
    Check your device firmware version by clicking on tools > device information on your Connection Manager. If are running version X1_4_5_0 you have the latest firmware & do not need to update your device.

    Step 2
    Download AC320U_Telstra_FirmwareUpdate_Mac.zip & save it somewhere you can easily find it (Like your desktop). If you’re a Telstra BigPond customer do not use this file for your device update. Please visit www.bigpond.com/help for your device firmware update information.

    Step 3
    Print these instructions & make sure all your other applications are closed. This includes, but isn't limited to email, your internet browser and word processing programs.

    Step 4
    Click on the “Telstra Mobile Broadband” menu item & click on “Quit and Turn off Next G® device”

    Ensure that your Telstra 4G AirCard 320U is still plugged into your computer. Unzip the file you downloaded in step 1 & run the FirmwareUpdate_UCM file.

    Step 6
    Click on the “Update” button & follow the on screen instructions.

    Once complete open the Mobile Broadband Manager to complete the update.
