Overview

We have the fastest, largest and most robust networks available to Australia’s mining and resources industry. We connect resource sites using wireless technology and devices back to operation centres, whether they are local or at a distance.

Our Next IP® network and Next G® network enable world-class internet and voice wireless solutions that can make all this happen. We also offer the Iterra IP® satellite service for sites that need internet protocol connectivity at extremely remote locations.

The Telstra Next IP network fully integrates with the Telstra Next G network, providing over two million square kilometres of coverage and reaching 99 per cent of Australia’s population, so we can:

  • Connect your sites, employees, suppliers and customers
  • Protect your data and intellectual property with backup and recovery, managed firewall and web and mail protection
  • Provide real-time interaction between sites through document sharing, and phone and video conferencing so you can share business tools and applications with remote sites
  • Improve the safety of remote sites
  • Boost productivity and morale for employees working in remote or challenging locations

Things you need to know

Data speeds on Telstra’s network may be affected by network availability, the type and configuration of customer hardware, the performance of external networks (such as the internet), the signal strength of the device being used, and other factors such as the type of application being used.

Features

Safety

We can help site personnel maintain contact with each other and head office in the event of a safety issue. Incidents like spills can be broadcast using basic texting to staff handsets while triage for larger incidents is easily controlled by site staff and overseen from a remote head-office. Transport trains can report their position and status to base and the Telstra Next IP® network can run along the track using optical fibre, with the Next G® network operating as a back-up strategy for the primary control system.

Staff

Our networks enable teleconferencing and data transmission from many remote locations to a head office in a major centre so your staff can provide and receive rapid response to findings in the field and can engage in voice and video teleconferencing back to base. They can also enjoy high-speed internet using the Telstra Smart Camp Services® network in accommodation villages as well as entertainment options and Skype™.

Dynamic sites

Road building and track laying are expensive undertakings and we can provide satellite based mobile and IP technologies that provide temporary coverage at work sites. Dynamic sites also require dynamic storage and processing and we can offer access to private clouds and private cloud applications to ease the need for on-site technology architecture.
