Machine-2-Machine

Machine-2-Machine, also known as M2M, is transforming industry. It gives your business assets the power to communicate directly with each other, automating day-to-day tasks that free up your workforce to get on with more important business.
M2M can be used to monitor valuable equipment, detecting maintenance issues before they become problems. It can enable remote control of heavy machinery, saving travel time on large worksites. It can provide visibility of people, places and entire production processes. And with the real-time data M2M provides, you’ll have the information you need to make smarter business decisions, faster.
How our M2M wireless service works
Our M2M wireless service uses our mobile network to connect different pieces of equipment so they communicate with each other, saving you from monitoring them yourself. Exactly how you set up your network communications will depend on what you need. For example, your assets may be able to ‘talk’ to each other without human intervention, a monitor could trigger a switch, or a meter could send data to a billing system. Your equipment can also be set up to send alarms or reports back to your central monitoring system.

Casual Data plans
These are suitable for M2M applications that have a high degree of predictability in their usage profile (such as metering, monitoring, vending, digital signage). Each service has a monthly service fee and a dedicated data allowance. Where the monthly data allowance is exceeded, excess usage charges will apply.
Group Data plans & M2M Shared Data Plans
These are suitable for M2M applications that have a degree of variance in their usage profile (such as tracking, security, connected consumer device solutions). Each service within the group plan has an allocated data allowance that makes up the total group monthly data allowance for services on the same plan. The total group monthly data allowance can be shared across the entire group of services on the same plan and account. Where the data allowance is exceeded, excess usage charges will apply. Depending on the M2M service you use, we have a suitable plan to allow this flexibility.
SMS Bundles
These plans also provide for SMS options for SMS-based communications for your M2M devices.
SIM Management
The Telstra Wireless M2M Control Centre is a SIM and Subscription management platform that you can use to manage and monitor all of your Telstra Wireless M2M services. SIMs
Wireless M2M solutions often have specific SIM requirements to suit various environmental conditions. We now provide four different SIMs: the M2M SIM Chip, the M2M Industrial SIM Card, the M2M Standard SIM Card and the M2M Micro SIM Card.
Telstra’s M2M Industrial SIM Card is more robust and comes in the standard form factor 2FF with increased corrosion resistance to withstand extreme environmental conditions for demanding M2M applications. The increased reliability and life expectancy of the M2M Industrial SIM Card reduces the risk of potential failures and the time and cost involved in replacement.
All Telstra M2M SIMs are available via the Telstra Wireless M2M Control Centre, which provides advanced tools to allow remote provisioning, management, diagnostics and troubleshooting.
