Telstra teams up with Acer to launch new Next G embedded laptops
Telstra has added three laptops with built-in wireless mobile broadband to its Next G™ device range in partnership with Acer Computing.
Telstra Consumer Executive Director Glenice Maclellan said the new Acer embedded laptops, available from 33 selected T[Life]™ stores, combine Australia's fastest national wireless broadband network with Acer's world leading laptops.
"Acer embedded laptops offer customers a convenient all-in-one solution. A laptop, embedded with a Next G™ wireless broadband modem and WIFI for ease when accessing the Internet at home or on the go," Ms Maclellan said.
"Telstra worked with Acer to make sure once a customer has purchased an embedded laptop it was simple and quick to connect to the Internet. They're able to leave a participating T[Life]™ store with their device set up, allowing them to start surfing the Internet straight away.
"There's no need to use a Wireless USB device or connect to ADSL via cables when using an Acer embedded laptop, which means they're simple and convenient for customers."
Telstra Product Management Executive Director Ross Fielding said the embedded laptops allow customers to surf the Internet, send and receive email, keep social networking sites updated and manage digital files, including photos and music.
"All devices come with Telstra's MyPlace™ application, which provides step-by-step assistance on set-up and connection, as well as easy access to key Telstra and BigPond™ services, including email, search, maps, news and more. In addition, Business customers can easily use the devices to access the T-Suite™ range of applications, which enables them to connect to world-class software for a simple, fixed monthly fee," Mr Fielding said.
There are three embedded laptops available exclusively from Telstra and Acer: two Aspire One 10" Netbooks and the 14" Aspire 4810T Timeline Notebook for all day computing.
"The lightweight Netbooks at 1.1kg are true mobile devices, while the streamlined 1.9kg Notebook offers excellent battery performance with up to 8hrs always on capability," Mr Fielding said.
"A monthly payment plan for customers, combining both the cost of the laptop and wireless broadband, offers convenience for customers as they can purchase both the laptop and wireless broadband in the one package."
Nigel Gore, General Manager - Product Division, Acer Computer Oceanic Region said being productive and connected while on the move is of great importance to today's technically savvy consumers.
"Our new partnership with Telstra simplifies the consumer process of purchasing a Netbook or Notebook. Customers wanting fast online access and mobility will gain significant value with this offer," Mr Gore said.
Telstra customers can purchase the Acer Netbooks and Notebook for $0 upfront payment on a $39 data plan plus monthly laptop repayments starting from as little as $30.38 per month for 24 months in selected T[Life]™ stores across Australia.*
*MIN COST $1665.12 plus usage. Prices may vary at Telstra Licensed stores.
