Telstra adds the Samsung i617T to Next G range
Telstra today announced the addition of the Samsung i617T smartphone to its Next G™ range, giving customers even more choice when connecting to Australia's largest and fastest 3G national mobile broadband network.
Deena Shiff, Group Managing Director, Telstra Business, said the Samsung i617T was the second Samsung smartphone to be launched on Telstra's Next G™ network, following its successful predecessor, the Samsung BlackJack.
"The new Samsung smartphone will allow customers to keep in touch with the office while they are out and about using email and calendar over Telstra's superfast Next G™ network.
"The Samsung i617T combines the advantages of a Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone with the coverage benefits of Telstra's super-fast Next G™ network, all at a very competitive price.
"Customers will enjoy a powerful personal computer experience with fast access to Microsoft Push Email, full synchronisation of calendar, contacts, tasks and files, fast download of attachments, and fast access to the internet in more places across Australia," Ms Shiff said.
"Best of all, with Windows Mobile 6.1 built in as standard, customers have access to the full suite of Microsoft Mobile Office, which allows users to view PowerPoint presentations and edit Excel spreadsheets and Word documents which can be viewed and edited while on the move.
"The Samsung i617T will help customers achieve productivity improvements in their personal and business lives with 'always on' wireless connectivity over Telstra's world leading Next G™ network.
Ross Fielding, Executive Director, Telstra Product Management, said the Samsung i617T is a feature rich smartphone giving customers access to 3G applications like Mobile FOXTEL from Telstra, BigPond TV and Whereis Navigator with in-built GPS capabilities.
"The Samsung i617T boasts a thin, stylish design, with a 2.4 inch high resolution screen offering a sharp display, a jog wheel and full QWERTY keyboard. It features a 2MP camera, video recorder and player, stereo MP3 player, 100MB in built memory with an SD slot expandable to 4GB and much more.
"The Samsung i617T is 3.6Mbps peak download rated and comes with 3GSM Tri Band capability giving customers travelling outside Australia roaming access to 3G mobile coverage in many countries around the world," Mr Fielding said.
The Samsung i617T has a recommended retail price of $589 and is available on a range of plans, including $0 upfront on a $30 plan for 24 months. It is available exclusively on Telstra's Next G™ network from Telstra Shops and dealers and online at http://www.telstra.com/.
