Australia's EasyTouch(tm) Handset with "active ticker" unveiled
Telstra's commitment to innovative '1-click 1-touch' products continues with the launch of the EasyTouch™ mobile phone on the Next G™ network, featuring intuitive, one button functionality and an "active ticker" that scrolls news, sports and promotional content updates across the home screen.
Telstra Product Management Group Managing Director, Ms Holly Kramer, said the EasyTouch™ handset had been designed to give customers even greater levels of choice and personalisation, including the ability to select the handset's display from pre-loaded themes to create shortcuts to favourite mobile functions and applications.
"The EasyTouch™ handset is the perfect blend of style and simplicity, which is designed to take the hassle out of using a feature packed mobile phone," Ms Kramer said.
"There are dedicated keys for video calling and accessing the 1234 directory service, the active ticker provides a constant stream of useful information, while the icons on the home screen take you directly to popular services including Mobile FOXTEL, BigPond Mobile, Messaging, Email and Yellow search.
"A major EasyTouch™ benefit is that there's no need to search through menu after menu looking for your favourite application - it's all there at the touch of a single button," Ms Kramer said.
Telstra EasyTouch™ is the latest addition to the Next G™ handset range. Telstra has worked with Qualcomm and handset manufacturer ZTE, to bring the Telstra EasyTouch™ handset to market.
"The Telstra EasyTouch™ handset, designed using the Qualcomm's uiOne™ solution, will deliver a user experience as unique as the customers themselves," Ms Kramer said.
"Telstra's Next G™ services are playing an integral part in our customers' everyday lives and with the EasyTouch™ handset, Telstra hits another milestone in the way we differentiate our wireless service from those of our competitors," Ms Kramer said.
Featuring a stylish clamshell design, Telstra's EasyTouch™ handset incorporates a two mega pixel camera, person-to-person video calling, integrated BigPond Music Player, wireless Bluetooth technology, hands free speaker phone and an expandable memory card slot.
The recommended retail price is $499. It is also available as a $0 handset on a $30 Phone Plan.
"With the uiOne solution, operators such as Telstra have recognised that they can meet the growing consumer demand for personalisation on their mobile phone while simultaneously building customer loyalty to their brand," said Bob Briggs, senior vice president and general manager of BREW for Qualcomm Internet Services. "We applaud Telstra for its innovative approach and are pleased to mark this important milestone in their Australian deployment of uiOne."
EasyTouch is a trade mark of Telstra Corporation Limited. uiOne is a trade mark of Qualcomm Incorporated.
