Telstra wins global award for business innovation
Telstra is among 16 companies worldwide to win a new international award recognising excellence in innovation by companies serving small business.
Global research firm IDC has singled out Telstra's small and medium business division for its inaugural "SMB Business Excellence Award", following the successful launch by Telstra Business of the T-Suite® software service in early 2009.
The T-Suite® 'cloud computing' service is allowing Australian small businesses to easily access software and other IT services that were previously either too expensive, or only available to big companies.
Announcing the award, IDC said, "Despite a challenging economic climate worldwide, a number of technology product and service providers have been investing in innovative products and programs to meet the changing needs of small and medium-sized businesses."
Telstra Business Group Managing Director Deena Shiff said the award was welcome recognition for the T-Suite team and its software partners as they worked to deliver a simple, reliable cloud computing platform meeting the unique needs of Australia's small and medium enterprises.
"We set out from the start to find the right software applications and bring them together in an easy to-use service that gives businesses the opportunity to get the tools they need without big upfront costs and expand up or down as their needs change.
"Because Telstra has a relationship with more small businesses than any other company in Australia, successful innovation like this can really make a big difference in driving productivity across this important sector.
"We look forward to building on what we've started in 2009 by introducing more small businesses to successful software developers in the year ahead through T-Suite," Ms Shiff said.
