Research and Development

External Research and Development Program

Telstra’s External Research and Development Program aims to strengthen the relationship between Telstra and the Australian research and development community.

The program will provide support to a number of research and/or development projects which have the potential to provide benefit to industry or Australian end users.

The R & D projects Telstra will support may be diverse in nature‚ however they will be of major significance and importance to the Australian community and relevant to Telstras business.

Telstra is encouraging projects from any researchers and developers‚ whether they are affiliated with a research centre‚ a university‚ an established company‚ or a start-up.

We believe that Telstra can provide unique support to Australian researchers and developers.

As a technology leader‚ we can offer access to Telstra internal subject matter experts for advice and discussion. As one of the largest Australian companies‚ we can facilitate exposure to Telstra’s partners (technical and business to further a participant’s research) and external exposure of your project through joint PR initiatives.

How to apply

Submissions for 2009 have now closed.

A shortlist of programs will be chosen from the submissions received and the principal of each short listed program notified in October 2009.

The selection process

Telstra will hold an External R&D day‚ when short listed programs will have the opportunity to do an “elevator pitch” on their program of work and why this should be selected for further support to a panel of senior Telstra Executives.

This day will be held in November‚ and further details will be supplied to the short listed participants.

Telstra looks forward to ongoing and constructive dialogue and engagement with the Australian research and development community as we work together to develop the networks‚ services and applications which Australia will rely on as we move forward.
