Directors
David Thodey BA
Chief Executive Officer
David Thodey became Telstra's Chief Executive Officer on 19 May 2009, announcing a strategy of market differentiation and a renewed focus on customer service and satisfaction.
David joined Telstra in April 2001 as Group Managing Director of Telstra Mobiles, overseeing significant industry change with the mass take up of mobiles and the introduction of digital technologies.
In December 2002, David was appointed Group Managing Director Telstra Enterprise and Government and was responsible for the company's large corporate, government and business customers in Australia, TelstraClear in New Zealand and Telstra's international sales division. At the helm of Telstra Enterprise and Government, David oversaw another period of significant industry change, with the rapid take up of IP and mobile broadband services over Telstra's Next IP and Next G™ networks.
Before joining Telstra, David was Chief Executive Officer of IBM Australia/New Zealand and previously held several senior executive positions in marketing and sales with IBM across the Asia Pacific. He originally started at IBM as a systems engineer and has retained a passion for technology throughout his career.
David was born in Perth and is currently the Chairman of Basketball Australia. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and English from Victoria University in New Zealand. David attended the Kellogg Post-Graduate School General Management Program at Northwestern University in Chicago.
Bruce J Akhurst LLB, BEc (Hons)

Telstra Media Services and CEO Sensis Pty Ltd
Bruce Akhurst is the Group Managing Director of Telstra Media Services and Chief Executive Officer of Telstra's advertising and media business, Sensis. Bruce also has management responsibility for Telstra's digital media strategy, which includes Telstra's 50 per cent interest in Pay TV company, FOXTEL. More recently in March 2005, Bruce was also appointed Chairman of the FOXTEL board.
As Chief Executive Officer of Sensis, he has responsibility for driving the sustainable growth of the company and the continuing evolution of Sensis' highly successful advertising and search operations.
Prior to his appointment as CEO Sensis on 1 January 2005, Bruce was GMD of Telstra Wholesale, BigPond® and Media Services, in addition to being Telstra Group General Counsel and Sensis Chairman. Bruce joined Telstra as General Counsel in late 1996 and was appointed Group Managing Director Legal and Regulatory in early 1999.
Before joining Telstra, Bruce was the Managing Partner at a national law firm. He has an Economics Degree with Honours, as well as his legal qualification, and taught in the Faculty of Economics and Politics at Monash University before embarking on his legal career.
Geoff Booth
Group Managing Director
Telstra Country Wide
Geoff Booth was appointed Group Managing Director of Telstra Country Wide on 1 January 2006 after a 33-year career with Telstra.
He had served as a Regional Managing Director of Telstra Country Wide since its formation in June 2000, with responsibility for whole-of-business performance in Western Australia, South Australia (for all areas outside Perth and Adelaide) and the Northern Territory. This included management of sales and service performance and government and stakeholder relationships.
During this time significant mobile networks were constructed across parts of WA, SA and the NT, improving the lives and businesses of customers in those areas.
Before moving to Telstra Country Wide, Geoff was National General Manager Business and Government - Energy and Resources, responsible for the sales force that account-managed Telstra's largest customers in this sector, including Rio Tinto, Shell and the then BHP.
Between 1986 and 1990 Geoff was Commercial Business Manager for Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory, responsible for sales and marketing activity in the region.
Nerida Caesar BComm (Marketing), MBA
Group Managing Director
Telstra Enterprise and Government
Nerida Caesar joined Telstra Enterprise and Government in August 2006 as Managing Director for Integrated Accounts. In December 2007 she took on the role of Executive Director National Sales where she was responsible for managing products, services and customer relationships for Telstra Enterprise and Government throughout Australia.
In March 2009, Nerida was appointed Group Managing Director, Telstra Wholesale. Appointed to the position of Group Managing Director, Telstra Enterprise and Government in May 2009 she is now responsible for the company's corporate, government and large business customers in Australia and Telstra's International sales division.
Before joining Telstra Nerida was Vice President of IBM's Intel Server Division for the Asia Pacific region and previously held several senior management and sales positions with IBM.
Nerida is a member of the AIIA National Board of Directors and holds a Commerce degree with a major in Marketing and a MBA from the Melbourne Business School.
Paul Geason BA/LLB (Hons)

Telstra Wholesale
Paul is responsible for the company's wholesale customers in Australia and globally.
Paul (re)-joined Telstra in August 2006 as Executive Director of Convergent Sales in Telstra Enterprise & Government where he was responsible for the marketing and sale of voice, data, mobile and unified communications solutions to the company's corporate, government and large business customers.
Prior to joining Telstra in 2006, Paul was Senior Vice President of Sales at a telecom operating software company based in Boston, USA.
Paul originally joined Telstra in 1994 and held many positions over an 11 year period in Telstra's legal directorate and product management teams.
Prior to joining Telstra, Paul worked with Baker & McKenzie Solicitors.
Andrea Grant BEd, DipTch
Group Managing Director
Human Resources
Andrea Grant was appointed Group Managing Director, Human Resources on 7 October 2005.
Andrea joined Telstra from GM Holden where she was Executive Director, Human Resources; a position she held since 2001. She also served as GM Holden's first female board member.
Before joining GM Holden, Andrea was Human Resources Director of Merck, Sharp & Dohme (New Zealand) Limited.
Andrea began her career in human resources in 1984 with Drake International in Johannesburg, South Africa and has over twenty years of experience in the field.
Andrea holds a Bachelor of Education Degree, a Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching, and an Affilliate Diploma from the Australian/NZ Insurance and Finance Institute. In addition she is a graduate of the London Business School';s Advanced Development Programme.
Will Irving B.Com, LLB (Hons)
Group General Counsel
Will Irving was appointed Group General Counsel of Telstra on 1 January 2005. Will is responsible for the provision of legal services to Telstra's Board and leads a team of lawyers who provide strategic advice and counsel to business units across the company.
Will joined Telstra in 1997 and headed legal services in a number of business units including Wholesale, International and Infrastructure Services. In 2001 he was appointed Deputy Group General Counsel.
Before joining Telstra, Will was a member of the telecommunications and trade practices (anti-trust) group at leading Australian law firm Mallesons Stephen Jacques.
Will holds degrees in Law (Hons) and Commerce (economics and accounting majors) from the University of Melbourne. He has served on the board of the Australian Corporate Lawyers Association and was Chair of its Professional Issues Committee from 2004 to 2006. In 2006, he was named Australian Corporate Lawyer of the Year.
Holly Kramer BA (Hons), MBA Mktg (Hons)
Group Managing Director
Telstra Product Management
Holly Kramer is the Group Managing Director, Telstra Product Management, and a member of Telstra's senior leadership team. In this role, she is accountable for the development and lifecycle management of the company's $18+bn domestic product portfolio, including fixed, wireless, broadband and enterprise services.
Most recently, Holly held the role of Managing Director of Products, Wireless & Mobility. In her previous position as Chief of Marketing for Telstra Retail, Holly was accountable for the strategic direction and implementation of marketing plans for the consumer and business markets.
Before joining Telstra, Holly was General Manager of Marketing and Communications at eCorp. Prior to that, she spent three years as General Manager of Marketing with Ford Australia and five years in various marketing management positions with Ford Motor Company, USA.
Holly sits on the Boards of TelstraClear Limited and the Alannah and Madeline Foundation and she is a member of Chief Executive Women (CEW). Holly is also the Ambassador for the Telstra Business Women's Awards national program.
Holly has a BA (Hons) from Yale University and an MBA Mktg (Hons) from Georgetown University.
John McInerney
Chief Information Officer and Group Managing Director IT
John is accountable for delivering Telstra's Information Technology and Transformation program which is part of Telstra's overall business, network and technology transformation program formally launched in November, 2005. The Information Technology and Transformation portion of the program is closely aligned to this mission and represents one of the largest programmes of its kind in the world. It is a multi-year journey which delivers common business processes, capabilities and training, supported by world-proven solutions across our Customer Care and Billing and Operating Support Systems. This program will deliver a simplified IT environment - recognising we have a unique opportunity to change our culture by creating a world class, performance-oriented organization as part of solutions delivery.
Prior to joining Telstra, John began his career at Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC), holding positions across a range of disciplines. John then joined the Datum Group, an Australian based IT consultancy to head up their business intelligence practice. Over a period eight years John successfully led a number of divisions in the Datum Group and spent his final two years as the Chief Executive Officer.
Since joining Telstra's Information Technology group John has enjoyed time as the Group Manager - Management Information Delivery Centre, Chief Information Officer - Infrastructure Services, and Executive Director - Information Technology.
Kate McKenzie BA, LLB

Strategic Marketing
Kate McKenzie is the Group Managing Director of Strategic Marketing, which manages Telstra's corporate pricing, strategy, mergers and acquisitions, marketing, advertising and sponsorship functions. She has been in this role since 30 March 2009.
Prior to that, Kate was the Group Managing Director of the Telstra Wholesale business unit in Telstra, a position she held for a little over three years.
Kate joined Telstra in August 2004 as head of Telstra's regulatory group. Within a year she was promoted to the role of Deputy Group Managing Director for public policy and communication.
Before joining Telstra, Kate was Director-General of the Department of Commerce in New South Wales and previously had held a range of senior executive roles in government departments and offices.
Throughout her career Kate has been involved in management of the commercial impacts of complex policy issues including competition, energy reform, corporatisation and privatisation. Kate is widely recognised for her industry leadership, her championing of regulatory reform and is a respected commentator on telecommunications issues of national importance.
Kate has been a director of the Rail Corporation of New South Wales, and is currently a director of Sydney Water Corporation.
Kate holds Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Law degrees from the University of Sydney.
Justin Milne BA

Telstra Media
Justin Milne is the Group Managing Director of Telstra Media. He joined Telstra in December 2002 and transformed BigPond into Australia's most successful internet business. Today as head of Telstra Media, he is responsible for the growth of Telstra's domestic and international content and advertising assets and manages a key strategic role with Sensis and FOXTEL. In Australia, Telstra Media controls BigPond's comprehensive online and mobile properties including news, sport, music, movies and videos, ringtones and wallpapers, games and shopping. In China, Telstra Media manages mobile value added services companies ChinaM and Sharp Point.
Justin has been a member of Telstra's CEO leadership team since 2004. As Group Managing Director of BigPond, he was responsible for driving the growth of BigPond's ISP business, BigPond's brand and Telstra's internet content. Under his direction, BigPond led the market in developing online content and online applications. These efforts have been recognised with several national awards including the 2006 "Best Wireless Operator" and 2005 "Best ISP" awards at the Australian Telecom Awards.
In 2008 Justin received the Sir Charles McGrath Award, the highest accolade for marketing and business professionalism in Australia. He is a member of the South Australian Economic Development Board and the Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation. He was a past president of the Internet Industry Association.
Prior to his career at Telstra, Justin was CEO of Australia's then 2nd largest ISP, OzEmail and before that, Managing Director of the Microsoft Network in Australia.
Justin holds a Bachelor of Arts from Flinders University.
David Moffatt BBus (Mgt), FCPA

Telstra Consumer Marketing & Channels
David Moffatt was appointed Group Managing Director, Telstra Consumer Marketing & Channels, on September 3, 2003 to take effect from October 1, 2003. The group's activities encompass the provision of fixed and mobile communications, broadband and entertainment services to the Australian consumer. The group also manages the Telstra Shop chain and Telstra's extensive national network of mobile phone dealers as well as Telstra's information, connection and payphone services.
David was previously Telstra Chief Financial Officer and Group Managing Director, Finance and Administration, a role he assumed in February 2001 with responsibilities including finance, treasury, information technology, risk management and assurance, acquisitions, investments and strategic development, productivity, investor relations and corporate services.
Prior to joining Telstra, David was Chief Executive Officer, General Electric - Australia and New Zealand, responsible for GE's diverse operations in these two countries. Prior to that, he was CEO, GE Capital - Australia and New Zealand, where he planned and managed GE Capital's entry into Australia and New Zealand.
Before joining GE, David held leadership roles with Palmer Tube Mills, Citibank and Bain & Company.
He is a graduate of the Queensland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Business (Management), and is QUT's 2000 Chancellor's Outstanding Alumnus and Faculty of Business Outstanding Alumni Award Winner.
David Quilty BA

David Quilty was appointed to Group Managing Director, Public Policy and Communications on 1 September 2008.
Most recently David held the position of Director of Government Relations and headed up a team responsible for representing Telstra's policy and political interests with Federal and State Governments.
David joined Telstra in January 2006 when he was recruited to the company as General Manager, Government Relations.
Before joining Telstra, David worked as a Senior Adviser in the Cabinet Policy Unit from September 2003 to December 2005.
David was Chief of Staff to the Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts from May 1997 to September 2003.
Prior to that, David worked in a number of political advisory roles, including a position of Senior Adviser to the Prime Minister and an Adviser to the Leader of the Opposition.
David holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Graduate Diploma in Industrial Relations.

Telstra Networks & Services
Mr Michael Rocca is the group managing director of Telstra Networks and Services. This business unit of around 19,000 staff members encompasses all of Telstra's technology, networks, infrastructure build and service delivery groups.
Prior to this appointment, Michael was the group managing director of Telstra Services for the company. Michael has held a range of senior posts during his 40 year career including being managing director of a number of engineering and service organisations within the company, and has achieved an enviable record in the areas of delivering substantial customer service improvements, and cost reduction, across the nation.
Michael holds a master of business administration and post-graduate qualifications in engineering and management. Michael also has qualifications from Insead, Global Management, and is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Deena Shiff was appointed to the role of Group Managing Director, Telstra Business from January 30, 2006. Telstra Business was newly established at that time to specially serve the needs of Australia's small to medium enterprises.
Deena started her career in telecommunications with the former OTC Limited in 1989, after a period of time in Canberra working on the social security and legislative reforms of the 1980s.
From 1995 to 1998, Deena was a partner in the corporate Advisory Section of the law firm, Mallesons Stephen Jacques. Deena re-joined Telstra in 1998 as Director of Regulatory. She has held a number of positions in Telstra, including GM Corporate Affairs in the International Business unit.
Deena was the first woman to be appointed to Telstra's senior leadership team in 2001 when she was became the Group Managing Director of Telstra Wholesale.
Deena has held a number of non-executive directorships in both the telecommunications industry and other sectors. She was a Director of the government owned rail operator, Freightcorp, from 1995 until it was privatised in 2002. During that time she chaired the Compliance Committee and later the Privatisation Committee of the Freightcorp Board.
Deena has a degree from the London School of Economics and a law degree Cambridge University. She was admitted to the Bar in London in 1981.

Ms Livingstone joined Telstra as non-executive Director in November 2000. She was appointed as Chairman on 8 May 2009. She is the Chairman of the Nomination Committee and a member of the Remuneration, Audit and Technology Committees.

Ms Livingstone has a degree in accounting and has held several finance and general management roles predominantly in the medical devices sector. Ms Livingstone was the Chief Executive of Cochlear Limited (1994 - 2000).

John Mullen

Mr Mullen joined Telstra as a non-executive Director on 1 July 2008.
Mr Mullen has worked for over two decades in a multitude of senior positions with different multinationals. His corporate experience includes 10 years with the TNT Group, with two years as its Chief Operating Officer. From 1991 to 1994, he held the position of Chief Executive Officer of TNT Express Worldwide, based in the Netherlands. Mr Mullen joined Deutsche Post World Net (DPWN) as an Advisor in 1994, becoming Chief Executive Officer of DHL Express Asia Pacific in 2002, Joint Chief Executive DHL Express in 2005 and Global Chief Executive Officer DHL Express in 2006.

John Stanhope was appointed to the role of Chief Financial Officer and Group Managing Director, Finance & Administration in October 2003. He was appointed as an executive director of the Telstra Board in May 2009.
John is responsible for finance; treasury; risk management and assurance; corporate planning, reporting and analysis; business services; investor relations; corporate security and investigations the Office of the Company Secretary, procurement, billing and business improvement and analysis. John also managed Telstra's involvement in the Federal Government's T3 sale of Telstra shares.
John previously served as Director, Finance. In this role, which he assumed in 1995, he contributed to the T1 and T2 share sales, cost reduction programs, growth strategies, debt raising, capital management and organisational restructures.
Since joining Telstra in 1967, John has held a number of operational roles and more recently a range of senior financial management positions including General Manager, Strategy and Finance - Special Business Products; General Manager, Finance and Business Planning - Network Products; and Executive General Manager - Business Support Services.
He is chairman of the Business Coalition for Tax Reform, and was appointed to the Financial Reporting Council in 2006. He serves on the executive committee of the Group of 100.
John is a director of Telstra Super, Sensis, SouFun, ChinaM, Sharp Point and the Telstra Foundation, and was recently appointed to the AGL Energy board as a non-executive director. He is chairman of TelstraClear and CSL New World Mobility and alternate director for Foxtel.
John Stewart BA, FCIB, ACII

Mr Stewart joined Telstra as a non-executive Director on 28 April 2008. He is a member of the Nomination and Remuneration Committees.
Experience:
Mr Stewart has had a long and successful career in the finance industry since he first joined Woolwich PLC in 1977. Mr Stewart was appointed to the Board of the Woolwich in 1995 and became Chief Executive in 1996. Following Woolwich's acquisition by Barclays PLC in October 2000, Mr Stewart was appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer and became a member of the Barclays Group Board and Group Executive Committee. In August 2003 he joined the Group comprising National Australia Bank (NAB), the Clydesdale & Yorkshire banks in the UK, the Bank of New Zealand, and nabCapital, as Chief Executive, Europe and Principal Board Member. In February 2004 Mr Stewart was appointed Group Chief Executive Officer of NAB and retired from the NAB effective 31 December 2008.

Experience:
Mr Zeglis has a legal background, and became partner with the law firm Sidley & Austin in 1978. His qualifications include a BSc in Finance from the University of Illinois, and a JD in Law from Harvard.
Mr Zeglis has had a long and distinguished career in the US telecommunications sector. He joined AT&T in 1984, and was elected as President of AT&T in 1998 and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the AT&T Wireless Group in 1999. He continued as CEO of AT&T Wireless until retiring in November 2004 following the company's sale to Cingular Wireless.
